- Connecticut Light and Power has selected Naugatuck Valley Community College's Electronic Engineering Technology Department to deliver a full two-year scholarship for 15 students beginning in Fall 2008. This will be repeated for an additional 15 students who will begin the program in the Fall 2009. The first group will graduate in Spring 2010 and the second group in Spring 2011. The program is open to qualified students who plan on committing their efforts to a full time, day program in Electronic Engineering technology. Applications are being accepted through April and a committee of NVCC and CL&P officials will decide which students are selected. The first semester includes six courses - English Composition, College Algebra, General Physics I, Electric Circuits I, LabVIEW, and Electrical CAD and Fabrication.
Guaranteed summer internships with CL&P are included for the successful applicant and full time employment with them is very possible upon completion of the Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. Some students who complete the program may take the option of continuing at in-state college or university for a Bacheloriate degree.
The program targets high school seniors but anyone who intends to be a full time, daytime student at NVCC may apply. There is a $20 application fee, which will be reimbursed if the applicant is accepted into the program.
