Greater Hartford Mini Maker Faire

On October 3, 2015, we celebrated the first ever Greater Hartford Mini Maker Faire, which brought out over 1,500 attendees to Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT! This was a family-friendly celebration of invention and creativity is open to people of all ages who are interested in creating, making, building, innovating, tinkering, hacking, engineering, designing or connecting. Maker Faires serve as hands-on events that showcase projects other makers have worked on, while sharing new forms of innovation and experimentation across a range of disciplines.

ATE Principal Investigators Conference

From October 21-23, 2015, we participated in the 22nd Annual ATE Principal Investigators Conference held in Washington, D.C. which was attended by over 800 people with a focus on advanced technological education. The RCNGM was proud to celebrate with four students from CT community colleges who received the ATE Student Recognition Award for all of their hard work in engineering and technology programs. After receiving their awards, Melissa Mickolyzck from Housatonic Community College and currently University of New Haven, Matthew Payne from Gateway Community College, Michael Bond from Gateway Community College, and Antonio Ruiz from Tunxis Community College were able to go on a special student tour of the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum and participate in a student showcase to display their projects.

STEM/Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Expo of Greater Waterbury

On November 16, 2015, we once again participated as a sponsor and exhibitor in the STEM/Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Expo of Greater Waterbury held at Coco Key Resort in Waterbury, CT. The event brought in over 1500 local middle school and high school students to learn about educational and career options in manufacturing.
