RCNGM & The Maker movement

Greater Hartford mini maker faire

The RCNGM, in partnership with CT Business & Industry Association, has held three Mini Maker Faires at Tunxis Community College reaching over 2300 members of the community who were able to visit over 50 Maker exhibits and meet over 220 Makers per Faire. The RCNGM realizes the importance of connecting the community with educational and career opportunities in manufacturing; therefore, Makers include students from middle school through college who demonstrate their projects that focus on the latest technologies. The skills learned while researching and prototyping projects are essential to careers in engineering and technology fields.

Nation of makers

Originally developed under the Obama Administration, and recently formed as a non-profit, Nation of Makers supports the full range of organizations that impact makers by encouraging connections, broadly sharing resources, facilitating funding opportunities, engaging in policy development, and advocating for the Maker Movement. The organization helps maker organizations amplify the passion, innovation, creativity, and diversity of the maker community, and maximize both its local and global impact.

RCNGM PI & Executive Director, Dr. Karen Wosczyna-Birch serves as Connecticut's ambassador to the White House for the Nation of Makers.
