The definition of Industry 5.0 "Industry 5.0 is an evolution of Industry 4.0 that emphasizes a human-centric , sustainable , and resilient approach to manufacturing. It focuses on combining advanced technology like AI and robotics with human creativity to personalize production, empower workers, and reduce the environmental impact of industry. This contrasts with Industry 4.0's main focus on automation and data exchange." Artificial Intelligence Use Cases in MFG Quality Control AI monitors production lines, detecting issues through cameras and prioritizing maintenance to prevent large-scale failures. Demand Forecasting AI aids in material cost estimation, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization, reducing waste and improving resource use. Smart Manufacturing Smart Manufacturing often involve case studies using tools like IBM Maximo, Siemens MindSphere, and GE Predix, that utilizes AI. MFG Day, an initiative of the Manufacturing Institute —the workforce development and education affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers—empowers manufacturers to come together, address their collective challenges, and build excitement about manufacturing careers to help their communities and future generations thrive. Manufacturing Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in October, with events continuing throughout the month and beyond. It celebrates modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. These events encourage students to learn skills that apply to employment in the manufacturing industry and beyond.
