National Center for Next Generation Manufacturing leadership partner Central Community College (CCC) in Nebraska hosted industry tours and invited high school students into their facilities. Career Pathways are partnerships between Nebraska high schools and CCC that allow juniors and seniors to explore career fields in greater depth. Central Community College hosted around six high schools with over 100 students. Each group toured some available companies in split groups: Becton Dickinson, Camaco, Mid Plains, Columbus Hydraulics, and Behlen. All the students are enrolled in CCC’s dual-enrollment Mechatronics classes at their local high school. During the October 2nd event, CCC provided four mini-stations where the students could explore different mechatronics hands-on labs in a group setting. On October 8th, students visited two other manufacturing plants in Kearney, Nebraska. October 16th was Mechatronics Manufacturing Day, which included tours for the high schools offering Mechatronics for dual enrollment at their local schools. Around 120 students’ schools toured two manufacturing plants and then came to CCC for a Mechatronics tour and lunch.
