The National Science Foundation (NSF) has been a pivotal force in advancing scientific research and education across various fields, and funds the National Center for Next Generation Manufacturing. NCNGM is dedicated to enhancing the manufacturing workforce through community colleges nationwide and ensuring that their educational programs are aligned with the latest industry needs and advancements. In this context, the center is particularly proud to support its long-time partner, EdAdvance , by attending the 6th AI in Education Conference. This conference serves as a vital platform for K-12 educators to come together and explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in their school settings. The discussions at this conference focus not only on integrating AI into curricula but also on how these technologies can enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

There was a series of engaging breakout sessions covering an array of topics, each designed to enhance attendees' knowledge and skills. Among these sessions was a focused discussion on AI literacy specifically tailored for educators. This session aimed to equip teachers with the necessary understanding of artificial intelligence technologies, their classroom applications, and their implications for teaching and learning. Participants explored how AI can be integrated into educational practices to foster a more innovative and effective learning environment. Another important session focused on the ethics of using technology in education. This discussion delved into the moral responsibilities that educators and institutions hold when implementing new technologies for both students' and faculty use. Participants were encouraged to consider issues such as data privacy, equity in access to technology, and potential biases arising from algorithmic decision-making.

The day also featured student panels that provided firsthand perspectives on learners' experiences in higher education. These panels were particularly valuable as they brought together a range of students who shared their insights on various aspects of college life. The midday panel discussion was especially noteworthy, as it featured three students currently enrolled in college, each at different stages of their academic journey. The panelists offered the audience a glimpse into their workloads and how they have evolved since their transition from high school to college. They highlighted the differences in expectations and policies they encountered, providing a nuanced understanding of the academic and social challenges that come with higher education. This combination of perspectives created a comprehensive dialogue that resonated with the audience, offering valuable takeaways for both educators and students.
